Jai Jinendra kids!

In our previous blogs, we have already learnt:

Bol 1 – Gati 4

Bol 2 – Jati 5

Bol 3 – Kaya 6

Bol 4 – Indriya 5

Now, let's understand Bol 5 - "Paryapti 6."

What is Paryapti?

The word "Paryapti" means the ability or capacity to develop and use something that a living being needs to live and function.

When a soul moves from one Gati to another Gati, it gradually develops different abilities. These abilities help the living being build its body, use its senses, breathe, communicate and think.

In simple words, Paryapti is what helps a "Jeev" start a new life.

There are 6 Paryaptis:

  1. 🍚 Aahaar Paryapti – Food/Nourishment

  2. 🧍 Sharir Paryapti – Body

  3. 👁️ Indriya Paryapti – Senses

  4. 🌬️ Shwasoshvas Paryapti – Breathing

  5. 🗣️ Bhasha Paryapti – Speech

  6. 🧠 Mann Paryapti – Mind

Let's understand each one with simple examples!

🍚 1. Aahaar Paryapti – Taking in Nourishment

As you already know, Aahaar means food or nourishment.

Now when a soul moves to its next Gati, the first thing it does is take some form of Aahaar. This Aahaar is then used for the subsequent development of the Jeev's body.

🧍 2. Sharir Paryapti – Developing the Body

Sharir means body.

After consuming Aahaar, then the development of body starts taking place. This development is called Sharir Paryapti.

For example, a human baby first consumes "Aahaar" inside his mother's womb, and then the process of Sharir Paryapti begins.

👁️ 3. Indriya Paryapti – Developing the Senses

We have already learnt about Indriya 5.

They are:

👋 Touch👅 Taste👃 Smell👀 Sight👂 Hearing

Indriya Paryapti means developing the sense organs and the ability to use the senses that the living being possesses.

For example, a human baby in the womb gradually develops the ability to see, hear, taste, smell and touch.

But remember: not every living being has all five senses!!

A one-sensed being has only the sense of touch, while a five-sensed being has all five senses. So let's say in the case of a plant, Indriya Paryapti is only about developing the sense of touch. And if it is a bee, its Indriya Paryapti will be about the development of 4 senses - the sense of touch, taste, smell and sight.

🌬️ 4. Shwasoshvas Paryapti – Breathing

This is a long word, but don't worry! 😄

Shwas = Breath

Shwasoshvas Paryapti refers to the ability to breathe normally.

Think about yourself right now.

You are:

Breathing in… 🌬️ Breathing out… 🌬️

You don't even have to think about it!

A complete Shwasoshvas is the process of breathing in and then breathing out.

🗣️ 5. Bhasha Paryapti – Speech

Bhasha means speech or language.

Bhasha Paryapti is the ability to produce and use sounds or speech.

For example, we humans can:

🗣️ Talk😊 Express ourselves through words📚 Read and learn language💬 Communicate with others

But have you ever noticed that even animals (and even insects!) can communicate with one another in their own language? So even they have Bhasha Paryapti!

🧠 6. Mann Paryapti – Mind

Mann means mind.

The Mann Paryapti relates to the development and functioning of the mind.

The mind helps us to:

🤔 Think💭 Imagine🧠 Remember📚 Understand💡 Make decisions

For example, when you solve a Maths problem, or are thinking about what you want to do tomorrow, you are using your mind.

🌈 The 6 Paryaptis – Super Easy Revision

So basically, every time a soul moves from one Gati to another, it starts its life by accumulating a few or ALL of these Paryaptis.

💡 Do All Living Beings Have All 6 Paryaptis?

No!

This is a VERY important point.

Different living beings have different numbers of Paryaptis depending on their nature and development.

For example, a five-sensed human being has the capacity for all six Paryaptis.

But a one-sensed living being, such as a plant, does NOT have the same six capacities as a human. It will only have the first four Paryaptis since a plant neither has the capacity to communicate (Bhasha Paryapti) nor to think (Mann Paryapti).

So all Ekindriya Jeev have the first 4 Paryaptis.

Now Beindriya, Teindriya and Chauindriya Jeevs have Bhasha Paryapti too since they can communicate with one another. But they do NOT have Mann Paryapti as they do not have the capacity to think, understand and make decisions.

So that means they can only have the first 5 Paryaptis.

Only Panchendriya Jeevs can have all 6 Paryaptis.

Also, please note that a Jeev gets ALL the Paryaptis it is supposed to get within 48 minutes of moving to the next Gati. After that, these Paryaptis keep developing over time.

💡ANOTHER IMPORTANT POINT

To be called a "JEEV", one must have AT LEAST 3-and-a-half Paryaptis - Aahaar Paryapti, Sharir Paryapti, Indriya Paryapti and half Shwasoshvas Paryapti.

What do you mean by "half" Shwasoshvas Paryapti?

Let us say an ant is born🐜

It consumes "Aahaar", develops a "Sharir", then goes on to develop "Indriyas." But it only takes one breath and before breathing out, it dies.

So in this case, the cycle of Shwasoshvas is not complete - hence only half Shwasoshvas Paryapti will be considered.
